Must Love Dogs
Sarah is divorced and lonely. Her large, caring family all get involved in match-making for her. Her sister makes her an on-line dating profile and she meets Jake, himself newly divorced. But Sarah gets involved with a dad of one of her kindergarten students at the same time. Jake’s an emotional man who likes to talk. Bobby is very cute. Sarah wants to be in love and make the right choice. But she ends up choosing badly and has to fix it.
There were lots of sexual stereotypes in this film and not much to laugh at. I remember it being quite a popular movie when first released, but I don’t think it has the ability to hold its own through the years. I really didn’t enjoy it and can’t do Diane Lane as the female protagonist. I’m not sure what it was, but I kept thinking through the movie that she was doing something wrong or shouldn’t have been in it. She was referred to constantly as a ‘girl’ which she clearly isn’t – she’s a middle aged woman. I also found the ending annoying instead of romantic. Can’t give this flick much of a talk-up.
