Joe (Perry) is a process server. He has to serve papers to Sara (Hurley) so her husband can divorce her. But he enters into a contract with her to serve her husband instead. That way she’ll get 50% of his property, and Joe will earn himself $1 million. But he ends up getting into a whole mess with a rival process service, and Sara’s husband’s henchmen. He and Sara fall for each other, but unless they can sort this out, they can’t be together.
I’ve seen this movie before many years ago, and it’s really not a film that stays with you forever. It’s one of those action romantic comedies, and isn’t awfully clever or funny, but still manages to tick a lot of boxes – car chases, guns, breasts…hang on, is this what we look for in a rom com?
Matthew Perry gives a great performance as the funny, nice guy. Hurley was okay. But I think rom coms have matured over the past ten years, and putting a model in very little clothes in the lead role doesn’t necessarily make it good.
