The Ramen Girl
Abby arrives in Tokyo to be with her boyfriend, who immediately runs off without her. She’s left alone in a strange city, a job she hates, and no idea what to do.
…until she gets the idea that she wants to train to be a ramen noodle chef. She makes the local ramen noodle eatery take her on as an apprentice. The owner is a tyrant who spends most of his time yelling at Abby – he has his own pain. But in the end, she will cure his pain, and maybe even her own broken heart.
This is a very moving film and I did really enjoy it, more of a romantic drama, than romantic comedy. Murphy was quite good, and I nearly always love a film involving food. It is a surprising find.
