Heather Graham, David Sutcliffe, Sandra Oh
Graham plays Pippa, a free spirited young woman who works as a freelance travel writer. Everyone wants her to settle down and get a real job, especially her father. When her dad has a heart attack, she has no choice but to stick around. She agrees to edit one of his magazines in his media empire until he is better and can hire a new editor.
The magazine is ironically a bridal magazine – she’s anti-relationship, and out-spokeningly anti-marriage. She meets the Vice-President of the company, Ian, and although they are opposites, are attracted to each other. But Pippa is operating outside of her comfort zone, and she could make a mess of the whole thing, including her job, if she doesn’t grow up and take responsibility for her actions.
We don’t see a lot of Heather Graham in rom coms other than teen ones. She did quite a good job in this. As it is a 2005 rom com, she is typically the only character who takes the spotlight.
However, it’s not a great film – it’s fairly stereotypical and predictable without an awful lot of humour. Can be watched by teens, but not one that the more mature of us should bother with.
