What’s Your Number?
What’s your phone number? No, what’s the number of people you’ve slept with?! Marie Claire magazine says the national average is 10.5 – more than 20 lovers and women will find it hard to get a husband.
So Ali Darling decides to fix her situation (she’s had 19 lovers) by going back over her ex-boyfriends and finding one she can hook up with again. Then her number 20 will be her last one and her mate for life. Well that’s her plan anyway.
Ali gets the help of her sexy neighbour in tracking down ex-boyfriends and getting in touch with them. Sexy neighbour himself has had way more than 10.5 lovers – he is having a lot of casual sex and avoiding relationships. The journey that these two take together end up changing both their plans.
Here is another film with the sibling who is getting married – extremely common theme in rom com world. One sibling gets married like a good boy or girl, and the other sibling is the one who has problems with relationships, the bad boy or girl.
Faris is a great actor to watch, and comes up trumps as the bad girl in a rom com – she’s feisty and funny (see Take Me Home Tonight). I did notice she appeared in her underwear quite a lot in this film, perhaps too much focus on her neat little body. However, there was also a lot of bare chested moments with the male lead!
This film didn’t break any new ground, but it highlighted the inconsistencies society has in relation to women, men and sex. There were some funny moments, and it’s definitely worth a look if you are up for a rom com night.
