Celeste and Jesse Forever
High school sweethearts, Celeste and Jesse, marry young but drift apart. They separate, with Jesse living in his studio out the back. They continue to be best friends and spend all their time together – something their other friends think is rather unhealthy. Jesse is holding on to the belief that they’ll get back together.
Celeste is driving ahead with her career and feels confident that divorcing Jesse (who hasn’t got his life together) is the right thing to do. That is, until he starts dating some-one else. Life just isn’t as good without Jesse in it. Will these two work it out, or is it too late?
I very much enjoyed this slightly off-beat rom com with gorgeous Rashida Jones. She drives the whole film and is a delight to watch. The story line is simple and the plot travels along beautifully, but the issues the characters face are complicated which gives the film an edge.
