A day in the life of Jillian, a law school drop out who has escaped to LA to find a more artistic side to herself. Jillian agrees to staff her friend’s sample truck for the day. As she gives out free ice-creams, she has time to think about what she’s doing with her life. When her fiancé arrives, he gives Jillian the shock she needs to wake up. Maybe she’ll take a chance on a boy she just met, and then figure out the hard stuff later.
I quite like these types of films that are very contained. Most of the focus is on Jillian and Weisler is more than able to carry this off on her own. The script is purposeful, yet non-directional at the same time. It’s slow, but it’s at ease with itself, giving Jillian the space to work things out.
Don’t expect a lot from this film and you’ll be happy with what you get.
