At Middleton (Just One Day)
George takes his son, Conrad, to Admissions Day at Middleton College. Similarly, Edith takes her daughter, Audrey. They all start out on the same college tour, but due to simmering conflict between the parents and their children, George and Edith leave their kids to tour on their own.
The two parents spend the day together – a truly wonderful day that neither of them want to end. They explore and discover hidden emotional issues about their lives and help each other understand how to be happy again.
This is a mature rom com that rolls along at quite a good pace, and with some excellent acting. There are a couple of interesting connections – Vera and Taissa are sisters, and Taissa goes on to work with Spencer again in Jamesy Boy.
This isn’t an overly clever or funny film, but saying that, it does take the viewer on a fairly emotional journey. This is one of those rom coms where you shouldn’t be looking for too much, but the film still manages to keep you engaged and entertained. Perhaps a good one for parents with teenage children!
